HOW TO GET THERE

Flying into Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport is the best way to access the city by air. The airport is located 17 miles (27 kilometers) from the city center, a 20-minute ride in normal traffic. Many hotel hotels offer free shuttle services.

American Airlines, Delta, JetBlue, and United all offer flights to the city. Those traveling from closer cities may be interested in reaching Savannah by Amtrak, which operates rail service along the East Coast.

Driving to Savannah is also quite easy. From Interstate 95 – which runs north to south – take Interstate 16, which will lead visitors directly to the downtown. Savannah is also accessible by U.S. Route 80, which connects the city with Tybee and other islands.

BOTTOM LINE

Savannah offers a wealth of options to visitors with diverse interests. Whether you’re interested in the South’s haunted side, want to step into historic homes and learn about their dark past, care to brush up on your knowledge of American wartime history, or are simply looking for a warm place to enjoy some fine dining and southern cuisine, look no further.  Just don’t be surprised if you’re charmed into staying longer than you originally planned.
