DSC_4940Delta Air Lines introduced on Tuesday enhancements to its coach service on international flights that include a welcome drink, a choice of appetizers and entrees that can be mixed and matched, and a variety of snacks.

The first welcome cocktail, served after reaching cruising altitude, is a Bellini, the Italian classic that mixes sparkling wine and peach nectar, which Delta sees as a “subtle nod” to its Georgia roots.  The airline will introduce new drinks at various points throughout the year.

Delta has been testing the new service enhancements over the past year and the initiative was led by a team of 20 flight attendants.

“The thoughtful touches we’ve incorporated throughout are aimed at making connections with customers to show them how much they’re valued,” said Ron Walk, a member of that team.

Along with the new meal choices, Delta has ditched the standard plastic meal tray in favor of a placemat that goes on the now-misnamed tray table along with new cutlery and dishware.

In addition, Delta is adding a new snack basket to the international main cabin service, which will be available following the meal service.  The snacks will include Tillamook cheese, Cheez-It crackers, Oreos, Kind bars, and the airline’s signature Biscoff cookies with the imprinted Delta logo.
